![]() This is a great starting point for Christian giving and should be calculated on the gross salary (or on net income before taxes for those in businesses for themselves). Figuring out how much to give as a minimum is fairly easy, as the Bible instructs us to give a tithe, or one tenth or our income back to God. The issue of managing all of our gifts, including our finances, is of great importance to God. Give to God first.Īs Christians, our first financial priority, just as in every other area of life, should be God and His work. As we do this, He will provide for all of our needs.Īre money problems rearing their ugly head and causing tension in your family? True financial success comes not from accumulating a large surplus in our bank account, but from following God’s plan for our finances. He owns it, and He entrusts it to us to use for His purposes. As Larry Burkett said, “You can tell more about the spiritual lives of a couple by looking at their checkbook than by anything else.”Įverything we have comes from God. To Jesus, our attitude towards money is of utmost importance, because it is a reflection of our attitude towards God. ![]() Did you know that Jesus spoke more about money than He did about any other topic? The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty. Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dis- honest with very little will also be dishonest with much. So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you property of your own? (Luke 16:11-12) Related: Be a generous person God expects us to be trustworthy You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. One man gives freely, yet gains even more another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward him for what he has done. Related: See yourself as God’s steward (or assistant) God expects us to be generous (Proverbs 12:11) God rewards faithfulnessīut seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. He who works his land will have abundant food, but he who chases fantasies lacks judgment. Related: Love God, not money God rewards hard workĪll hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty. Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money … lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. Related: Acknowledge that God owns everything God gives us the ability to make moneyįor who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not? (1 Corinthians 4:7) God warns us not to love moneyīut mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.
